EN/IEC 61000-4-5 - 2014 relates to immunity requirements for unidirectional surges caused by over-voltages from switching and lightning transients. This standard defines ranges of test levels, test equipment, test setups, and test procedures for equipment under test (EUT). The goal of this International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standard is a reproducible guide to evaluate equipment when exposed to this type of phenomena. It specifies that direct injections of lightning currents (direct lightning strikes) are not considered in this standard. The most recent 2014 version 3 cancels out previous publications and gives specifications for 10/700 µs combined wave generator. The most changes from version 2 fall underneath the test procedures section of the standard. This Standard can be purchased on the IEC Webstore.
EN IEC 61000-4-5 Peak to Peak and Voltage Test Levels
This IEC standard is based on a surge, a transient wave of electrical current, and is tested for by Immunity Test Equipment. This standard defines two Combination Wave pulses (Open Circuit Voltage and Short Circuit Current). It set the number of pulses from the EMC test equipment to a.c. ports, d.c. ports, and interconnection lines, at 5 positive and 5 negative (a.c. at 0°, 90°, 180°, & 270°). The NSG 3150 by Teseq is an EMC immunity tester for combination wave/surge to 15kV, and offers solutions for both CE mark & ANSI testing. This product includes the CDN 3153 (three phase coupler). A2LA accredited calibration is included in the EMC test equipment price.

The Teseq (previously Schaffner) NSG 3060 EMC Immunity generator provides testing for EFT(electrical fast transients) to 4.8kV, Surge to 6.6kV, 100kHz ring wave to 6.6kV and offers solutions for both CE mark, ANSI, and IEC testing.  A2LA accredited calibration is included in the EMC rental equipment price. It includes both coupling methods associated with IEC and ANSI EMC testing standards. We also offer a variety of accessories available for rent, including the CDN 3083 series (CDN3083-S100 & CDN3083-B100), allowing for enhanced testing capabilities.

The Teseq CDN 3063 EMC Immunity Tester with the NSG 3060 for EFT to 4.8kV, Surge to 6.6kV, 100 kHz Ringwave to 6.6kV.  It Includes, three phase EFT and Surge coupler with 480V, 32A EUT capability. This is the combination of both the CDN 3063 and NSG 3060 which are priced and often rented desperately. This product is designed primarily for cable-borne transient interference tests.

This Immunity Testing System was created for maximum reliability in a wide range of test setups. Over temperature protection, which allows short term operation at currents exceeding the nominal rating, prevents damage to internal components. The combination of both the NSG 3060 and CDN 3063 takes into account EUT power voltage levels allowing for testing to ANSI C62.41 and many others.

The Teseq CDN 3063 coupling decoupling network allows for 32Amp 480Volt three phase, EFT, Surge, and 100kHz ringwave for use with the NSG 3040 and NSG 3060. This testing accessory can be rented individually or together as an NSG3060 CDN3063 combination. This accessory is designed for maximum reliability in a wide range of test setups. 

This immunity test equipment includes both IEC and ANSI coupling methods. It also includes a Phase Rotation indicator ensuring correctly sequenced power connection, preventing damage to equipment under test (EUT). An A2LA accredited calibration is included in the EMC test equipment price.

The CDN3063 allows for coupling for testing to EN/IEC 61000-4-4, EN/IEC 61000-4-5, EN/IEC 61000-4-12, ANSI C62.41, ANSI C62.45, and UL 1449. Through new technology it offers the ANSI C62.41 coupling method, used to measure and track the mains voltage and simultaneously control the pulse phase angle. CDN HSS-2 Rental - Teseq Ethernet Surge Coupling / Decoupling Network for Unshilded Symmetrical High Speed Communication Lines

The Teseq CDN HSS-2 Coupling Decoupling Network is designed for convenient surge testing with 1.2/50 μs pulses, as defined in EN/IEC 61000-4-5, on unshielded symmetrical high speed telecommunication lines e.g. Ethernet. A2LA accredited calibration is included in the EMC rental equipment price. This product allows testing on ISDN and Ethernet with 10/100BaseT and 1000BaseT. With a surge test voltage of 2 kV is the maximal residual voltage at the AE port only 65 V due to the excellent decoupling network. Additional decoupling elements are not required to protect the auxiliary equipment (AE).

CDN3083-S100 Rental - Teseq 100A/620V 3phase CDN for Surge & Ringwave

The Teseq CDN 3083-S100 is an external, manual, three phase, 620v, 100a coupler/decoupler for the combination wave/surge and 100kHz ringwave generated by the NSG3060 and NSG 3040. This Teseq Product enables coupling modes with all types of symmetrical and asymmetrical coupling given in the EN/IEC 61000-4-5 and ANSI C62.41 2002.

This coupling decoupling network comes assembled and on wheels, providing an easily maneuverable turnkey solution. An A2LA accredited calibration is included in the price of this test equipment. It is often used in conjunction with the CDN3083-B100 providing 100Amp coupling/decoupling for Burst/EFT (electrical fast transients). These products are ideal for applications that require high AC and DC voltages and currents.

The CDN30830-S100 has all components, surge decoupling networks, INA 3080s, INA 3084 and earth rails installed. This testing accessory also comes with several cables allowing for required connections to be made easily. It can be rented individually to supplement existing testing capabilities, must be used with NSG 3060 or NSG 3040, or in combination with either Teseq surge generator.

The Teseq CDN3061 single phase coupler for use with the NSG 3060 Transient Immunity Tester for EFT, Surge and 100kHz Ringwave. A2LA accredited calibration is included in the EMC rental equipment price. This Teseq product is designed for maximum reliability, a diverse set of test setups, and both IEC & ANSI coupling methods.

The CDN 3061 network features a module for the power quality test required by EN/IEC 61000-4-11 and IEC/EN 61000-4-29. Automated variac accessories are available for connection to the CDN to perform the variation test described in IEC/EN 61000-4-11.
