Standard Terms

Transient Specialists, Inc. (TSI)

Standard Terms & Conditions:

  • TSI retains title of all equipment. Customers are precluded from altering, assigning, modifying or encumbering the equipment in any way.
  • Equipment is shipped F.O.B. shipping point and must be returned prepaid and insured to TSI per shipping instructions included with the equipment. Customers are responsible for all taxes and duties related to the lease of the equipment.
  • Payment terms are net 30 with credit approval. Non-payment or late payment of amounts due will result in interest charges of 1% per month and upon demand, return of the equipment.
  • The lease is non-cancelable for its initial term and may not be renewed without permission from TSI. If it is renewed, the customer is responsible for all lease charges accrued whether or not the customer has issued additional purchase orders.
  • In the event that the equipment is non-functional, lease charges are abated from the date that notification is given to TSI, until a replacement unit is furnished to the customer. Notification of a non-functional unit must be given within 72 hours of delivery or the customer will be responsible rental charges accrued between delivery date and the date they notified TSI of a problem.  Notification of missing accessories must be given within 72 hours of delivery or the customer will be responsible for the return of all accessories listed on the packing list.
  • The customer shall bear all risks of loss or damage to the equipment from the time of shipment until TSI receives the equipment in good working order, unless notification is given per sec. 5.
  • The customer agrees that TSI has not made any representation of warranty, expressed or implied (except as stated in the document) on the equipment and the responsibility for equipment selection, suitability and fitness of use for a particular purpose lies solely with the customer.
  • The customer will hold TSI harmless from all claims and expenses resulting from the selection, delivery, use and/or possession of any equipment obtained from or through TSI.
  • In the event of default by the customer of any of the above terms and conditions, TSI shall be entitled to the immediate possession of this equipment.
  • The customer agrees that the terms and conditions listed here shall supersede any conflicting terms in, or attached to, the purchase order.
  • This agreement shall be interpreted according to the laws of the State of Illinois. The customer shall pay to TSI all costs and expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, incurred by TSI in exercising any of its rights or remedies with regard to the rental or enforcement of any of these terms and conditions.

    5kV Transient Generators

    These transient generators are designed for immunity testing to combination wave surge requirements in accordance with IEC 61000-4-5 and typically also support Electrical Fast Transient (EFT) testing to IEC 61000-4-4. While the maximum output level varies slightly by manufacturer and model, most systems available today are capable of meeting all IEC surge test levels 1 through 4, making them suitable for the majority of commercial and industrial compliance testing applications. Most 5 kV combination wave generators also include an integrated Coupling Decoupling Network (CDN), allowing direct testing of single-phase AC power lines without the need for additional external accessories.

    Our rental inventory features transient generators from leading manufacturers, including EM Test, Teseq, Haefely, and EMC Partner. To support a wide range of immunity test configurations, we also stock capacitive coupling clamps for indirect coupling to communication and data lines, as well as external three-phase CDNs for testing higher-power equipment and multi-phase systems. This allows a single generator platform to be adapted for many different product types and test requirements.

    It is not common for 5 kV combination wave generators to include Ring Wave testing capability, as these functions are typically offered only on higher test level systems. If your application requires both combination wave surge testing and Ring Wave testing, consider one of our 6 kV transient generators, which are designed to support multiple immunity tests in a single instrument.

    Please ship the equipment back LTL freight attached to a pallet. Although many 5kV transient generators meet the size and weight requirements to ship small package, doing so will likely cause damage to the system. Returning the equipment by LTL freight helps ensure it arrives safely and avoids shipping damage. If you have any questions, please contact our team before returning the equipment.

    That is correct, we include an ISO 17025 calibration unless otherwise specified. We include the ISO 17025 calibration certificate and data in the rental price, no hidden fees. This is often required by our customers, as well as offering peace of mind that the equipment meets the testing requirements.

    Each model will include slightly different accessories. These can be viewed on the product page by selecting the "see included accessories" plus button. They generally include everything that's included with the purchase of a new unit, with occasional additions to help facilitate testing.     Most of our rental units include the manufacturer's control software pre-installed on a laptop. However, some models do not include a laptop or software as standard. If your testing requires control software, please let us know before your rental.

    Most 5 kV transient generators in our rental inventory will include testing capabilities for IEC 61000-4-4, as well as IEC 61000-4-5. However, some models are configured slightly differently.
