RTCA/DO 160 Section 22: Rent Lightning Transient Systems

Commonly required equipment for DO-160 Section 22:

Lightning Transient Generator	Oscilloscope
Injection Transformer	Current Probe
Attenuators	Voltage Probe
Monitor Loop	Calibration Loop
Capacitors (Dependent upon Ground)	LISNs

Section 20 requires 6 different voltage and current waveforms for compliance to all of the associated tests. Depending upon the cable type, coupling, and other factors will determine exactly which pulses are required. The main types of test required include pin injection, single and multiple stroke as well as multiple burst.

These different pulses are varified by and/or current monitoring or voltage probe allowing verification prior to testing. This standard includes 5 different test levels correlating to the how exposed the equipment is, 5 being the highest.
