Overview

The VSS 500N6.4 by EM Test provides the common surge immunity testing waveform (1.2/50us) to 6.6kV to IEC 60255-27 test levels 1-5. This equipement is ideal for overvoltage tests on protection relays and has no-load waveshaping. The no-load waveshape corresponds to IEC-61180-1. For this kind of testing the IEC 60255-27 standard requires a fixed energy of 0.5 J at the 1000 V and 5000 V test levels. To comply with safety regulations the VSS 500N6 is equipped with a contact to control warning lamps and with a safety interlock. This test generator comes with an ISO 17025 accredited calibration and meets IEC 60255-27 .5 J energy requirements.

Overview

EMC Partner single or 3 phase coupler/decoupler for Surge, Ringwave and 100kHz and 1MHz damped oscillatory waveforms. With regard to its price and dimensions, the three-phase coupling network is a genuine alternative to mains coupling filters available on the market today. The CDN2000 can be used for SURGE, Ring Wave, EFT, Damped oscillation superimposing. The desired coupling path must be plugged on the front panel by hand. The coupling network fulfils the requirements laid down in the IEC61000-4-4, IEC 61000-4-5, IEC 61000-4-12, IEC 61000-4-18 standards.

General Testing Information 

ANSI/IEEE C37.90.1 requires surge (combination wave), electrical fast transients (EFT), and damped oscillatory waveform testing. This standards has specific requirements for the amount of energy that used during testing that must be confirmed to. The surge waveform, 1.2/50us is the typical waveform per the more commonly used IEC 61000-4-5 standard, however has .5 joules of energy at each test level. This energy requirement for testing protection relays often makes additional outside generators necessary. Below you will find three wave forms, left being two surge pulses and the right being damped oscillatory waveform (DOW).  

Equipment

C37.90 surge requirements include a .5 joules at each test level of the 1.2/50us waveform, often making additional test generators required. The EM Test VSS 500N6 offer a easy to use turnkey system for this and other .5 joule test requirement, often used with relay testing. This surge generator also meets the product based requirements of IEC 60255-27. The damped oscillatory waveform (DOW) test system designed by EMC Partner, the MIG-OS-OS1 offers a compliant solution to the corresponding section of C37.90. This solution offers 3-phase 480VAC/24amp equipment under test (EUT) and control via front panel.
