    CDN Rentals for Transient Testing

Coupling Decoupling Networks (CDNs) are used for applying surge, EFT/burst, ring wave, and other transient disturbances to power and signal lines during EMC immunity testing. A CDN couples the required transient waveform onto the equipment under test (EUT) while decoupling the disturbance from auxiliary equipment and the surrounding power network. This provides a controlled and repeatable method of evaluating product immunity to electrical transients.

Our rental inventory includes transient CDNs for single-phase and three-phase AC/DC power lines, high-current applications, and communication or data lines. Available systems support common EMC requirements including IEC 61000-4-4 for EFT/burst, IEC 61000-4-5 for surge, and IEC 61000-4-12 for ring
wave testing. Depending on the application, CDNs are available with current ratings ranging from standard laboratory applications to high-current three-phase systems.

Transient CDNs are often manufacturer-specific and must be compatible with the transient generator being used. We offer equipment from EM Test, Teseq, EMC Partner, and Haefely, allowing complete generator and CDN systems to be configured for your specific test requirements.

    Related Questions

Yes. For surge testing to IEC 61000-4-5 a coupling decoupling network (CDN) is required for three-phase applications. The CDN must be rated to meet the voltage and current requirements for the equipment under test, along with the corresponding test level.

Our rental inventory includes three-phase transient CDNs for a range of current requirements, including 32 A, 100 A, and 125 A systems, among other configurations. Some systems can accommodate higher-voltage AC and DC applications. For questions about selecting the correct CDN for testing, contact our team at info@ts-emc.com.

A coupling decoupling network (CDN) is used to apply transient disturbances to the power or signal lines connected to the equipment under test (EUT), while helping isolate auxiliary equipment from the applied transient. Transient CDNs are commonly used for surge, EFT/burst, and ring wave immunity testing.

All three-phase CDNs will ship LTL freight attached to a pallet to ensure that they arrive in working condition. While some models are small enough to ship small package, doing so will cause damage to the test system.
