Electrostatic discharge test simulators have a variety of different capabilities and features that provide a solutions for a wide range of testing requirements. The most common way to differentiate simulators is based upon highest voltage capabilities (air and contact discharge) and resistance and capacitance network.The most common configuration for these types of equipment, is 15-16kV air and 8-10kV contact discharge with a 150pF/330Ohm network. 30kV models provide the higher capabilities for both air and contact discharge and often, a more premium screen or interface to modify testing parameters. Below is a breakout of the common components in the Teseq NSG 435.
Simulator Considerations
The variety of diverse simulators offer many different capabilities, including charge removal, unique inferences, and pre-programmed test routines. As with other equipment purchases the need for additional capabilities, often up to 30kV, add additional cost.
