Overview
General Testing Information
ESD simulators, also known as ESD guns, provide a cost-efficient solution for electrostatic discharge testing. This event is caused by the quick release of electrical energy between two objects that have a potentially different voltage. Electrostatic Discharge is a key element of EMC conducted immunity testing. Electrostatic Discharge is a key element of electromagnetic immunity testing. Our test systems come with current ISO 17025 ensuring compliance. Common testing standards include IEC 61000-4-2, MIL-STD-883, ISO 10605, and many others. We carry a diverse set discharge networks including automotive, military/avionic, and human body model testing to facilitate customer testing requirements.
ESD Simulator Guns
These common immunity test systems offer compliance to a variety of standards and support a diverse set of user preferences and programmed standards. With a diverse set of network and test requirements many different types of simulators exist. The most simulators differentiate themselves based upon test level threshold and networks (resistance/capacitance configuration). As the US distributor for Teseq and EM Test ESD test systems and accessories, many configurations are available and custom networks upon request.
Simulators
Equipment Overview
Electrostatic discharge guns generally are developed to meet the basic criteria of IEC 61000-4-2, with optional capabilities for other testing criteria. However, the majority of simulators have three major components discharge tips, the unit holding electronics, power supply/battery, and interface. Some configurations require a cord that ties directly to the power supply while others provide a cordless option. The more "Premium" equipment can reach up to 30kV for testing for automotive and other higher voltage requirements. Electrically these simulators may be slightly different in design, however given the requirements of IEC 61000-4-2 they have many similar features. Below are the basic components of the Teseq NSG 435.
Buy 16kV Test Systems
There are a variety of different standards that place electrostatic discharge requirements at 16kV air and 8kV contact for compliance. These series of requirements, including CE Mark, IEC 61000-4-2, IEC 61000-6-1, provide a baseline for immunity. Many of these systems also offer capabilities for additional testing capabilities with additional RC Networks and Modules. As the US distributor for both Teseq and EM Test ESD test systems and simulators, we're happy to offer a 2 year manufacturer's warranty on purchases.

Verification
Rent Voltage & Current Monitoring Equipment
The ability to verify waveform and voltage of ESD pulses is often required for compliance and internal quality control. This is most notably required by MIL-STD-461 CS118. The voltage, given the high voltage and low current, is often measured by an external voltmeter. Verifying waveforms is done using a target and oscilloscope capable of verifying an electrostatic discharge.
