Overview
Renting test equipment for this standard allows for the same quality equipment at a fraction of the price of purchasing new. This automotive that defines testing parameters for electrical disturbances from conduction and coupling including that of electrical transient conduction along supply lines of vehicles. This automotive EMC testing standards consists of five components including ISO 7637-2. This standard is available for purchase at the ISO Website. It sets testing parameters for temperature, supply voltage, setup, measurement, test equipment, and many other factors. The ISO 7637 series of tests include both immunity and emissions components of EMC. testing. This standard specifies shapes and parameters for pulses and provides details about required electrical components. 
ISO 7637 can be tested to with Automotive EMC Immunity Test Equipment and provides performance status classifications for immunity. The classification status is based upon the pulse severity level, minimum number of pluses, and burst cycle. The rating table based on these factors can be different for each kind of pulse, and for both 12 V and 24 V systems. ISO 7637-2 test equipment provides necessary information on test pulses 1, 2a, 2b, 3a, 3b and for 4, 5a, and 5b refers to ISO 16750-2 and ISO 21848. This EMC based standard also describes bench tests for both the injection and measurement of transients. Setup
The setup for this standard places special emphasis on the location of device under test (DUT), power supply lines, and location of load simulator. The DUT must be placed non-conductive support with a thickness of 50mm (+/-10%). For test pulses 3a & 3b it is necessary that the test pulse generator and DUT will be laid in a parallel line on a on-conductive support with a thickness of 50mm (+/-10%) with a length of (500 ± 100) mm.
