Overview
General BCI Test Information
Bulk current injection (BCI) is a method of injection RF onto different cables/lines associated with conducted/radiated immunity testing. This method calls for a probe and a calibration fixture or jig to ensure the probe is working. This is done prior to testing and MIL-STD-461 provides additional guidelines on when/if it is required. This series of tests can also include EM Clamps (electromagnetic compatibility) and coupling decoupling networks (CDNs) as a means of putting RF onto different cables. Given the amount of calibration measurements associated with this type of testing having effective measurement gathering software is ideal. Two main frequency ranges for current injection devices:
- 10kHz-230MHz - Fischer F-120-9A (F-120-6A & CIP 9136A)
- 10kHz-400MHz - Fischer F-120-6A & Teseq CIP 9136A
- 2MHz-500MHz -Solar 9142
