Automotive Electrostatic Discharge ESD Simulators

    Automotive Electrostatic Discharge ESD Simulators

Automotive ESD Simulators attempt to replicate the quick release of electrical energy between two objects that have a potentially different voltage in an automotive environment. Automotive electrostatic discharge (ESD) testing varies significantly from the more commercial based testing in the numerous and different sets of automotive standards. One of the most significant differences is the higher voltage and ESD network (resistance/capacitance) requirements. Many automotive ESD requirements require testing to 30kV and specialized networks or tips for testing. Many automotive standards also add additional test or contact points, both inside and outside the vehicle, adding additional testing considerations. Much of the automotive electrostatic discharge requirements are also applicable to both Military and Avionics EMC Immunity Testing. Below you will find a breakout of the different components required for the EMC Partner ESD3000 which has capabilities to test to many automotive standards.

      ESD3000 Components for Automotive testing

ESD testing standards for the automotive industry vary significantly from the more commercial based testing by the major role that manufacturer standards play. One of the largest used non-manufacturer based standard for automotive ESD is the International Organization for Standardization or ISO series of standards. These standards are often referenced by manufacturer standards as the framework not only ESD testing, but much of the automotive EMC Immunity testing requirements.

We offer a variety of ESD simulators that have the ability to meet many of the automotive ESD requirements. We carry electrostatic discharge simulators designed for automotive testing by Teseq and EMC Partner. The NSG 437 by Teseq offers a variety of testing modules to meet many standards with easy to use interface and interchangeable networks. The ESD3000 by EMC Partner offers the ability to rent individual networks, often providing a cost effective solution to automotive ESD testing. All of these ESD simulator rentals come with discharge tips and power supply/charging units. Our EMC rental customers have the ability to both rent and purchase these products online via our website. All our electrostatic discharge test equipment comes with an A2LA accredited and technical support.
